Why is good nutrition important for dance? To perform at their best, dancers need to be well-fueled (i.e. they need to eat the right balance of carbohydrate, fat, protein, micro nutrients, and fluids).
Do’s and Dont’s of eating before and after class:
- DO eat before class as you need energy to fuel your body
- DON’T eat 5 minutes before class starts. Try to aim for at least an hour beforehand for digestion.
- DO drink plenty of water before, during and after classes.
- DON’T refrain from drinking water just because you’ve forgotten your drink bottle.
So what foods are good to eat? Food that are high in complex carbohydrates such as whole grain toast and oats.
